After Newcastle came 10th last year (unexpectedly), it was partly expected that they might kick on this season, but that hasn't proved to be the case. With limited investment in the summer and an over-bearing owner, the job has been called a poisoned chalice. But there is a real challenge here, particularly with Mike Ashley promising he'll leave once the club wins something.
