Club: River Plate Montevideo

Nationality: Uruguayan

Price: £1.1 million

For those keeping track of our recent Football Manager 22 articles, you'll have seen the name Matías Arezo on our 10 Strikers You Need To Sign list.

Whilst the River Plate Montevideo player is indeed a striker you should sign regardless of which club you're managing - yes, even any and all of the superpowers of the beautiful game - he deserves a mention in this list, too, for how much of a bargain the 18-year-old is.

A bid of £1.1 million should be enough to seal the deal here, with the player even at times available for half of that amount. And for that price, you get a legitimate superstar-in-waiting.

As an example of how good Arezo can become, in your writer's current save, the striker is at AC Milan as the 2025/56 season is about to start. Last year for the Rossoneri, the Uruguayan bagged 46 goals in 42 goals as Milan won four trophies, including Serie A and the Champions League. Prior to that, Arezo scored a similarly impressive 38 in 32 games as Ajax likewise won the Champions League. Even more scary, at this point he's still only 22 years of age.

The point being, this is a player who goes on to become one of the very best strikers in the world. At a cost of around £1 million in your first pre-season, there is zero reason not to move for Matías if you're able to.
