Club: Salernitana (on loan from Atalanta)

Nationality: Italian

Price: £2.3 million

At a likely cost of barely £2 million, Matteo Ruggeri is another young prospect who represents extremely good value for money.

On loan at Salernitana at the start of FM22, this Atalanta left-back is absolutely worth keeping tabs on or even trying to put a future transfer in place for once that loan spell is up. Only 18 years of age, Ruggeri really starts to mark himself out as a genuine star in the marking.

By the time this Italian full-back hits 22 or 23, he's usually a regular for his national team; a national team that's so often been famed for the great defenders it's had over the decades. That's not to say that Ruggeri is the next Paolo Maldini, but he develops into an extremely accomplished left-sided defender who will either help Atalanta to become a major player in Serie A, or he'll get a big move to one of the historic 'big boys' of the beautiful game.

While Matteo is defensively sound, it's his physical numbers and his attacking prowess that really sparkles. Consider him very much in the progressive, forward-thinking mould of full-backs.
