9. Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork
Football Manager is designed to be a simulation of football and therefore, as with the beautiful game in real-life, simply putting the best 11 players on the pitch will not always be enough to ensure success. Instead you will need to factor in things like team cohesion, players’ familiarity with the tactic, as well as the other players around them.
This all sounds very complicated at first but, thanks to some handy UI from Sports Interactive, it’s very straightforward.
Team cohesion can be seen on the Dynamics tab in game, which also holds a ton of other useful information to help you understand the players in your squad. Improving team cohesion will happen naturally over time as long as you are getting results. However, scheduling team bonding sessions into training each week will help keep this high.
The Tactics screen will also show a bunch of helpful information for how your team will play together, as it includes tactical familiarity for each created tactic as well as showing you what players play well together by displaying a handy colour coded line if any two or more players have experience playing alongside each other.
