Fundamentally an extremely attacking 4-2-4 formation, this setup is at least guaranteed to bring entertainment regardless of how successful it proves to be.

Realistically, this tactic shouldn't work, but somehow it does.

Your Advanced Forward drifts towards the right, your Left Winger and Shadow Striker are taking up plenty of the same space as each other, and your Mezzala should in theory be treading on the toes of your Right Winger. Instead, there's a real verve and fluidity to this formation once your team gets familiar with it.

The high lines of engagement mean the hodge-podge of four attackers can swarm over the opposition, and by playing your Wingers as traditional Wingers - rather than Inverted - that sees them hug their respective touchlines and free up room for that Shadow Striker and Mezzala.

You may ship a few goals here and there, but this 4-2-4 tactic will more often than not see you outscore the opposition. Like a few other formations on this list, the important thing here is to stick with this formation in the early goings. Regardless of some questionable early results using this approach, the rewards will come so long as you have enough faith to stick with the tactic while your players adapt to it.
