When the 4-3-3 Tika Tika swept the globe and became the go-to dream formation for many a real-world team, so much of what made that so innovative was the use of Inverted Wingers.

Here with this 4-2-3-1 variant, there's plenty of that 4-3-3 DNA in place, but just with a focus on more classic wing play. Instead of being Inverted, you'll have regular Wingers in this tactic, with the primary focus of this approach to get the ball out to those Wingers as quick as possible in order for them to whip in early crosses.

Your Deep Lying Playmaker will be the one calling the shots and switching the ball out wide, so make sure they have strong stats pertaining to passing, decisions, flair, etc. Alongside that DLP will be a tough Ball Winning Midfielder, with both of those sitting just in front of your defence.

Given how your Wingers will be touchline-huggers, it's important to have someone - in this case a Shadow Striker - behind your Advanced Forward in order to provide another body for those crosses to be aimed at.
