For Honor: 10 Gameplay Features Ubisoft Didn't Tell You About
2. Executions Have A Unique Tactical Purpose
Another unique aspect of For Honor's gameplay which hasn't
received much attention is Ubisoft's unique approach to Executions.
As in many modern action games, from Skyrim to The Witcher 3, certain killing blows are performed as Executions – special moves which seeks to devastate the enemy, often resulting in a severed limb or body part as a final insult before they depart for Heaven/Valhalla to be reincarnated.
In For Honor, not only are the Executions varied and unique for each of the warriors – they also serve a tactical purpose, as performing an Execution delays the respawn time of the downed opponent. This will not only frustrate the killed player as they watch the clock ticking down until they can rejoin the action, but gives your team longer to complete the necessary objective – either by taking advantage of the quieter battlefield to capture a zone in Dominion, or ally with a comrade to 2 vs 1 another struggling enemy.
