1. There's A Trick To Using The Pickaxe In Combat

For the top spot, a super-simple tidbit that is invaluable whenever it's just you and another player vying to stay alive after landing.

Basically, although it feels markedly weak against pretty much any gun in the game, there is a way to maximise your death-bringing potential when wielding a pick-axe.

Just know that the weapon itself doesn't swing with an arc that maintains a hit box. Instead of any part of the axe's swing dealing damage when it comes into contact with an enemy, the pickaxe ONLY does damage in the middle of its swing, and ONLY where the reticule is pointing.

This means there's no benefit to trying to maximise the direction of your swing towards your opponent by looking downwards or standing more to the side. You're much better off aiming at centre mass, even when jumping or evading.

Using this tactic, you should always manage to come out on top in those frenetic opening scraps.
