Game Publishers Of 2019: 6 Biggest Winners & 6 Biggest Losers

3. Winner: Microsoft

Gears 5
Microsoft

Whilst they started the year fairly ho-hum (with disappointing exclusives like Crackdown 3), Microsoft turned the tide to make this a winning year.

First off, Xbox Game Pass is the game subscription service to have. With a rich backlog of titles, the ability to download them, and most importantly, to receive all Xbox exclusives on day one - the high value on display is baffling. They have now brought that service to PC as well.

Secondly, they managed to finally drop a triple-A exclusive that pays off. Gears 5 stands as a rip-roaring series best and also proved the company's hands-on quality approach going forward.

Lastly, take a look at this list: Playground Games, Undead Labs, Compulsion Games, Double Fine, inXile Entertainment, Ninja Theory and Obsidian Entertainment. Those are all exclusive Xbox companies now.

All of that and a slick new console reveal last week... Sony better get back in the game already.
