Game Publishers Of 2019: 6 Biggest Winners & 6 Biggest Losers

6. Loser: Bethesda

Rage 2
iD Software

2018 was a rough year for Bethesda, to the extent that decades worth of slack gamers had given them made a swift 180 turn into bitter hatred.

The main culprit was the disastrous release of Fallout 76, plus the turd hurricane that continued to spiral in its post-release.

It was clear-cut that they would have to work hard to win back goodwill in 2019. They attempted to address it directly at E3, with Todd Howard blatantly apologising for their mistakes. At least they continued to support it, and added NPCs and Battle Royale... but, no one really cares at this point.

Outside of Fallout though, the company had a chance to showcase their other talented studios. Yet, their two big titles, Rage 2 and Wolfenstein: Youngblood, were gratingly average variations on once-promising formulas.

It didn't help that Doom: Eternal was pushed back to next year either. Guess they wished they had started work on Elder Scrolls VI a little earlier, huh?
