Gears Of War: Judgment - 10 Reasons It's Awesome

2. Overrun Mode

One of the best things about Judgment is the online mode Overrun, a relatively simple game of attacking and defense, in which you are part of a squad of either COG or Locust; COG have to defend their base, while as Locust, you have to try and push through the network of spawn points. The game ends when either the Locust push through and destroy the final base, or the COG are able to hold their position until the timer runs out. Whether you're playing as COG or Locust, this is just an absolute blast and an improvement even on the game's famed Horde mode. There are benefits to each side, but the gameplay is exceptionally well-balanced, such that it never feels weighed in favour of either team. Whichever side you take, teamwork is the key to victory, making it vital that you're saddled with like-minded, proactive players, because if not, you're going to have a bad time. Team-mates will need to keep repairing damaged defenses and set up sentries on COG, while Locust will need to co-ordinate their attacks for maximum effectiveness. It's one of the best online modes I've played in any game recently, one which I expect just might garner a huge following.
