God Of War: 20 Awesome Easter Eggs You Need To See

2. Faye's Path

At the start of the game, Kratos cuts down a tree marked with a golden handprint to be used on Faye’s pyre at her funeral.

Throughout the game, the same golden markers are used throughout the world, notably to indicate areas where Kratos can climb. This became a gimmick made fun of by channels such as Honest Trailers.

However, at the end of the main narrative as Kratos and Atreus climb the final cliff of Jotunheim, there are more markers with the same golden handprint. Given that it is revealed that Faye foresaw their entire journey, depicted on the Jotunheim mural, God of War director Cory Barlog revealed that the golden markers throughout the world were put there by Faye as a way to guide them on their path.

Barlog called her an "almost omnipresent character" for both the protagonists and the player.
