God of War: Ascension introduced multiplayer to the series, but not successfully enough it would seem, as the new game will include no such feature.
Sony confirmed to Spanish gaming website Level Up that the upcoming instalment will be single player only, marking a return to the days when mythical beast slaying was an exclusively solo pursuit.
There are bound to be fans who're more peeved off than Kratos on a bad day by this move. Sure, Ascension’s multiplayer was imperfect, overly chaotic and felt tacked on to the core adventure, but it struck a chord with some and had room for improvement.
That said, the omission of online play means Sony Santa Monica can invest all of its resources into the solo campaign, and let’s not forget that the very best God of War games were single player only.
