Kratos’s previous adventures all featured light role-playing elements, with weapons and abilities that players could invest their hard-earned experience points in.
No doubt this will come back into play in the upcoming sequel, but the new God of War appears to include deeper RPG components and these were showcased in the trailer.
While Kratos and his boy hunt a deer through the forest, a message flashes up to indicate that the player’s tracking has levelled up. The father-son duo later accumulate archery skill points when taking out their prey with an arrow.
While we’re on the topic of Kratos' abilities, a revamped version of the Rage of Sparta was also on show during a no-holds-barred encounter with a troll. As if Kratos wasn’t angry enough already.
