Grand Theft Auto 6: 5 Time Periods Rockstar MUST Consider
3. Revisit The 1980s
If there is another decade more revered for its contributions to fashion, the automotive industry and pop-culture than the 1980s, we would absolutely love to hear about it.
An era explored previously by Rockstar in GTA: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto's fourth mainline instalment took a trip to 1986 in the titular fictional recreation of Miami, Florida. Often regarded as one of, if not the best in the franchise, Vice City has remained a testament to this iconic era for almost fifteen years and is the definitive 1980s gaming experience.
Rumours have been circulating for years now that GTA VI will be revisiting the mean streets of Vice City. As such, returning to the 1980s feels like the most natural choice. Not many players will be able to fathom the idea of cruising along Washington Beach in any other era.
It just wouldn't feel... right.
It's a decade plagued by a broad spectrum of crime. From South American crime families to the rise of cocaine empires, this period still has so much untapped potential. If not for the story potential then at least for the music, right?
