GTA 6: 8 Current Gaming Trends Rockstar Must AVOID

1. Putting ANY Time Into A Random VR Spin-Off

Rockstar seem to be going more and more into FPS territory with both GTA 5's re-release and Red Dead 2 coming with first-person modes that carry across their entire campaigns, so maybe this is just inevitable, but I'd argue VR is nowhere near the cultural touchstone for immersion and interaction it needs to be.

Not that there's anything outright wrong with VR, but if one of the first looks at "more GTA" is a VR experience - like how Psychonauts' Rhombus of Ruin predated Psychonauts 2 - it won't land well whatsoever with a mass audience.

Until companies can create a version of PS VR, Oculus Rift etc. that straps to your head without a large spaghetti pile of wires in tow, VR is left firmly in gimmick territory, and that's besides the fact we'd be playing a GTA limited to in first-person.

I know I wasn't alone in being slightly deflated when CD Projekt RED announced Cyberpunk 2077 was going to be exclusively first-person, and it makes you wonder: When the biggest titles on the market are first person, would Rockstar embrace the one major change they've been teasing all along?
