GTA V: 10 Reasons Why We Need a New Hero

9. Claude Shouldn€™t Speak

Any rapidly aging GTA fan like myself will tell you that Claude, GTA III€™s silent protagonist, is probably, according to the GTA timeline, at around the right age to actually be the voice in the trailer, the retiring gangster (GTA III is set somewhere in the early-mid 90€™s, meaning around 20 years have passed). While I can admit that it€™d be kind of cool to see the GTA franchise come full circle, to return focus to its original defining protagonist, I also think suddenly giving the guy a voice would be a huge mistake. In my memory, Claude is that silent, stoic warrior. If he suddenly spoke in a new GTA game then€ well it€™d be like Gordon Freeman suddenly having dialogue in Half Life 3. It€™d be a betrayal of the original character, to the point that it wouldn€™t sit right with me at all and I bet it€™d jar with plenty of returning fans too. With that in mind, I sincerely hope that GTA V€™s protagonist is someone completely new.
