GTA V: 10 Reasons Why We Need a New Hero

8. Why Break From Tradition?

R* have set a precedent with the GTA series and that precedent is thus: with each new title, we get a brand new protagonist. We might see returning protagonists as a cameo (Claude from GTA III for example shows up in San Andreas as CJ€™s street racing opponent), but in the past, when you€™ve put your money down for the new GTA game, you€™ve paid in part for the creation and presentation of a brand new character. Why should R* break from this tradition now? I for one am always excited to see who the new guy will be, to see what his hopes and aspirations are, to see what fuels him at his core to commit crime and to find out what his ultimate end game is. While I don€™t doubt R* would do a great job regardless of their choice of protagonist, I€™d still be more than a little disappointed if I didn€™t get to see the GTA world through the eyes of someone completely new.
