GTA V Review: 10 Things We Love

4. More Interactive Safe Houses

Gtasafehouse Safe houses used to be two-dimensional buildings where the player would just go to save their game. Not anymore. Now, safe houses in GTA V are more like "safe homes". There's a variety of personal activities you can get up to while in your safe house. Franklin can sit on the sofa, watch his television and light up a spliff, while Michael can watch TV and smoke a cigar. Michael can also wander through his huge mansion and go into his children's rooms, and Jimmy's room is mightily impressive. The amount of detail Rockstar have put into it is incredible; from the huge TV and gaming console through to the laptop on the desk and bong hidden under the bed, you really feel like you're in someone's house. Michael can even take a hit on the bong if he wants too, while back at home, Trevor, sitting in his squalid little shack out in the desert, can sit on the counter and sink 10 bottles of beer. There's more to do in a safe house than just save your game.
