GTA V: Top 4 Rumours And Theories

3. A Prologue... Set In Liberty City

Picture this, you pop in Grand Theft Auto V for the first time all filled with excitement, and instead of being greeted by the clear blue water, pristine beaches, and mountains of Los Santos, you are put back in the concrete jungle that is Liberty City of Grand Theft Auto IV. Now, this is clearly not GTA IV as you are not playing as Niko Bellic, Luis Lopez, or Johnny Klebitz, and this is just a confined slice of Liberty City guarded by invisible barriers. Rather, you are introduced to Michael whom you should recognize from the various trailers and propaganda. This is a visibly younger Michael though and he is standing in front of the Bank Of Liberty, to his right is a younger version of Trevor, one of the other protagonists of GTA V. They pull out guns from the trunk of their car, put on their masks, and storm into the bank. All the civilians get on the ground and are told to keep quiet, but a security guard comes out of the corner with a gun and Trevor pops him in the head, thus alerting the police. The masked duo have the tellers open up the vault and the robbers hurriedly stuff as much money as they can into bags. They make their escape out a side entrance through an alley and the player, switching between Michael and Trevor try to take on the cops. They eventually make it back to their car and as they are about to get in are surrounded by police. After many successful heists together the duo finally gets caught. The FIB (GTA's version of the FBI) intervenes and offer's Michael a deal. He and Trevor can avoid incarceration and they will also let Michael live the sweet life he's always wanted to live in Los Santos, if Michael helps the FIB bring down Liberty City's criminal empire. Michael complies (Without Trevor's permission) and he is relocated to Los Santos as part of the Witness Protection Program. Trevor still has to spend a few years in prison because they needed someone to blame for the robbery and killings. Flash forward some amount of years to modern Los Santos, Trevor has moved out to Los Santos too, living in a trailer park and Michael is sitting pretty in his luxury house and then the game starts in earnest. Now, most of this is all made up on my part but how great does it sound? There is confirmed fact here though. Rockstar could do something like this as they did it with GTA: San Andreas where CJ returned to Liberty City. Michael is in witness protection, and he did make a "sweetheart" deal with the FIB. Michael and Trevor have some past between them related to criminal activity and Michael came from some place "Out east.". Rockstar would do this because it would surprise a lot of people, how crazy would it be to have your first view of Los Santos actually be Liberty City? Pretty crazy. It would also show how Michael and Trevor got to where they are now and get you invested in the new characters while introducing players to the new shooting mechanics and protagonist switching right off the bat. I personally think it's a great idea but you never know what Rockstar might do. Probability: Unlikely
