The flip-side to going outside of the US for the next one is to return to the one time period you'll see popping up on any GTA-related fan-forum in the land - Vice City. As much as some of the fashions were ridiculous (but fashion always is) and the time period always appears in your mind's eye as replete with a pink overtone, the whole mobsters n' cocaine appeal of Miami is quintessential GTA. You could play as a cop forever trying to bust some gangs around town whilst pocketing some of product for yourself, or you could work your way up the ladder as a nobody turned career-criminal, Scarface-style. Vice City Stories had something of a business-building mechanic where you'd defend territories against attackers, as well as expanding their capabilities and money-making possibilities along the way. Instead of putting so much stock into random RPG-elements like eating, tattoos, new clothing or forever buying armour for your next mission, let us expand our actual criminal empire into something that shows a definitive sense of progression come the endgame versus where we started.
