Halo: The Master Chief Collection - 10 Incredible Moments You Need To Revisit

7. "You Found Me"

Game: Halo 3 Level: Cortana From the first moment she popped into our heads (literally), Cortana became one of the most popular characters in gaming. Her sassy personality and sharp wit made her a firm favourite and her knack for guiding us through Halo's oftentimes confusing levels was handy too. So leaving her behind in Halo 2 was a massively upsetting moment. Over the course of Halo 3's campaign, Chief is subjected to a number of messages from Cortana, known as Cortana Moments which helpfully keep her a key focus of the game, even though she is absent. The opportunity to save her finally arises near in the end of Halo 3 in the aptly named Cortana level. Here, Cortana's messages grow more and more pained and even though she's only an AI, her pain and suffering is clear for all to see - storming into High Charity and retrieving her feels as crucial as defeating the Flood menace. The reward for successfully getting to Cortana is a cutscene in which the damage done to her is made apparent. Upon seeing Chief, she weakly says: "You found me", before the two reunite (intriguingly, the scene also features several references to dialogue from the first game). Kudos to Bungie for not only making an interesting female AI character, but for also making her feel utterly vital to the game's narrative.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
