5. "Welcome Home, John"

Game: Halo 4 Level: Midnight Many would argue that Master Chief's story should have been finished with the conclusion of Halo 3. After all, Bungie seemed content to leave Chief and Cortana floating in space to end their story - who could disagree with that? Regardless, 343 Industries brought Master Chief out of retirement with Halo 4 - a game which serves as the introduction to a whole new saga for the Chief. Much of the story revolves around Chief's relationship with Cortana and the strain he is put under when she shows signs of rampancy and delusion. This all culminates at the end of the game where Cortana saves Chief from a nuclear explosion by using the last of her power to create a hard light bubble around him. The scene that follows sees Chief being forced to bid farewell to Cortana and if you aren't moved by it, you've got a heart of stone. Undoubtedly, Cortana will return to the franchise in some form (after all, she's almost as vital as Chief to the series) but this is an incredibly fitting finale for the character were she gone for good. Playing through the entire series of games and reaching this major moment is sure to get your emotions churning.
