Hands-On With Every Major Upcoming Video Game - Ranked

8. Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Nintendo

Speaking of Nintendo, Smash Bros. Ultimate played exactly how you'd expect.

Though the build at EGX didn't include the entire new roster, characters I got to try out included Bayonetta, Solid Snake, Pac-Man, Little Mac and Samus. At this stage if you've played any SSB game, you know the score:

Overblown launcher attacks, a propensity for button-mashing, super-powered screen-covering specials and the best roster in any game, ever.

Movesets for the aforementioned felt largely the same, but with a handful of new stages like Breath of the Wild's shrines being hyper-detailed and a joy to watch unfold, it's arguably acceptable for Nintendo to rest on their laurels.

For Ultimate, clearly Nintendo are going all out, putting together a selection of fighters that even includes the Castlevania crew, but for EGX it was standard Smash Bros. multiplayer, just like you remember it.
