Hands-On With Every Major Upcoming Video Game - Ranked
7. Starlink: Battle For Atlas
Onto one of the biggest surprises of the whole show, Starlink is Ubisoft's attempt to combine a ton of influences from Star Fox, No Man's Sky and Destiny.
It's a trio of titles I didn't expect to compare the game to, but as soon as I leapt into the cockpit of character Mason's ship and started warp-boosting around the cosmos, it was immediately reminiscent of Hello Game's divisive masterwork. Landing and taking off from planets also had a similar vibe, but mission design is far more reminiscent of Destiny - not to mention the enemy forces looked a LOT like the Vex.
Controls were tight and enjoyable to experiment with, as your weapon loadouts change whenever you swap out real-life toy attachments for your ship. It encourages you to mix and match elemental combos for specific enemies, and you also have access to boost dodges, jumps, barrel rolls and dogfighting in general.
I left Starlink roundly impressed, but whether anyone will even notice this in the same month as Red Dead Redemption 2, remains to be seen.
