Brolin has paid more dues than anyone on this list. He received multiple award nominations for his role as Llewelyn Moss in No Country For Old Men, as well as his turn as homophobic politician, Dan White, in Milk. He also made waves as outlaw Tom Chaney in 2010's True Grit, widely considered to be one of the best Westerns of the 21st century.
Let's not forget Sicario, either.
Most well-known for his role as the Mad Titan, Thanos, the overarching villain of the MCU, Brolin also appeared as time-traveling mercenary, Cable, in Deadpool 2.
Before you say he wouldn't do television, let it be known that he will soon star in Outer Range, a Western series for Amazon. Who's to say he won't dip into HBO, as well?
He's got everything Joel needs: The looks, the roughness, the voice, the intensity, the physicality, the warmth, and the darkness.
There are plenty of actors who could make a good Joel -- even a great Joel -- but Josh Brolin would make the PERFECT Joel.
