What good's a top-tier game with a loot component, eh? The fad will probably die out across 2017 as we all get way too sick of 'rare, uncommon, mystical etc.' equipment tiers, or get royally peeved at the likes of Overwatch's blind boxes never quite being as satisfying as they could be.

Still, Horizon has such a system too, where every mechanical enemy defeated will give you a randomised number of items. The larger the enemy, the rarer the loot, encouraging you to seek out the terrifying T-Rex-like Thunderjaw that has been seen on numerous trailers.

Many creatures will also have chunks of their bodies that look like 'boxes' to separate and open up, being full of items that can be claimed and crafted. Using what you've acquired, you'll create a variety of things ranging from mods for your melee weapons and bow, to new sets of clothing. Both will provide damage boosts or other perks to further deal damage to enemies, and should provide a solid incentive to spend some time completing side quests or exploring in general.
