Indiana Jones Game: 10 Things It Must Learn From Uncharted & Tomb Raider

9. Find Uniqueness in the Familiar

XBOX and Bethesda are in dying need of a slam-dunk franchise to shift units; keeping the console war alive. Indiana Jones seems like the perfect candidate for such a hefty task, but as is the way with new franchises, it's probably best to play it safe when it comes to the gameplay department, instead opting to refine familiar gameplay elements rather than creating new ones.

The PlayStation 3's early months were a disaster, as Lair --Sony's first big exclusive title released for the system-- was a commercial failure. Sony were desperate to give people a reason to invest in the overpriced system, and Naughty Dog provided it with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Nate's first adventure was far from the first third-person shooter, but it separated itself from the pack with superb performances, excellent writing and jaw-dropping visuals.

Indiana Jones would do well to replicate Naughty Dog's successes some 14 years prior. Uncharted and Tomb Raider are nothing new, both clearly taking inspiration from the other. The formula simply works, and there's more than enough room for a high-budget and even higher quality Indiana Jones game.
