Insomniac's Spider-Man 2: Every CONFIRMED Detail We Know

4. The Alien Costume Saga Is Going To Happen (And Peter WILL Wear It)

Fans may be wondering why Insomniac haven't included the black costume in Spider-Man PS4, and it's for a very important reason:

Peter is going to wear it in the sequel.

Although the Alien Costume Saga is unlikely to be adapted beat for beat, the likelihood is that Insomniac are set to provide their own spin on it by having Pete don the suit after coming into contact with Harry. We've already noted how the black costume's absence in the list of alternate suits was conspicuous, and subsequent interviews with Insomniac's Creative Director seem to confirm that this is indeed the direction they're heading - a direction that'll likely see a brand new design for the symbiote too, given the cosmetic changes already made to the classic red and blue costume.

The symbiote itself has had a polarising effect on Spidey fans, and to say that it's brought mixed fortunes to various media would be putting it lightly. It's certainly popular, but this particular staple of Spider-Man's comics already managed to derail Spider-Man 3, even if it has since benefited massively from a series recent retcons, starting with a starring role in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy comic.

That being said, we can be sure that Insomniac will be determined to changes doubters of this arc into believers, and to put a new spin on one of the web-slinger's most revered periods, even if Eddie Brock's whereabouts are still to be determined.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
