Kingdom Hearts 3: 10 Major Reveals From D23 2018
8. Ariel Returning As A Summon
Tetsuya Nomura has previously claimed that he wanted summons to be more 'beautiful'. Well, if Ariel's appearance is any hint to that, then he's certainly achieved his goal.
We may not get to see what Ariel actually does during gameplay, but that doesn't stop us from being in awe of how pretty her summon actually is. Sora summons a massive whirlpool and Ariel jumps out of it covered in a watery glisten. This could possibly indicate that summons will be related to elements, which hasn't been seen in Kingdom Hearts games before, as having Ariel as a water summon makes a lot of sense.
The fact that Ariel appears also confirms that Atlantica won't be a playable world in Kingdom Hearts 3, which after being the worst world in Kingdom Hearts 2, is probably a good thing.
Ariel's appearance as a summon could also hint that characters Sora already has a bond with will be returning through summons, whereas in previous games it was mostly smaller characters without their own world.
Here's hoping we see Stitch again.
