Last Of Us 2: 25 Easter Eggs, Details & References You Need To See

Ok, we all know how important giraffes are to the Naughty Dog team and The Last of Us in general. Anyone who played the original remembers that iconic scene just before the end, where Joel and Ellie encountered a roaming herd of giraffes.

The sequel has a really quite blatantly obvious reference to this in the form of a giraffe toy, which Ellie can find inside a toy shop. But what you might not know is that this particular toy has even more significance than you might think.

In the Last of Us 1 if you looked in Sarah's bedroom, you'd find a toy that looks almost identical to the one Ellie finds in the Last of Us Part 2 (it's slightly bigger, but otherwise the same). It's another subtle nod to what came before from Naughty Dog, and as always, their attention to detail is incredible.

Another scene which may be a reference to the giraffe is found in the museum flashback section. When Ellie and Joel are looking at the dinosaur skeleton (and you can throw a hat on it), the scene is framed very similarly to the way that Ellie and Joel interacted with the giraffes in the original game.
