League Of Legends North American LCS Summer Split Analysis: Week 6

8. Velocity eSports (4-13)

Vel Esports Velocity eSports brought a new lineup to the table, and it proved effective in both games they played this week. They moved Vileroze to the top lane and kept ecco in the mid lane, which seems ingenious now after they went 2-0 for the first time this split. Velocity surprised both Counter Logic Gaming and Team Vulcun with dominating performances, showing the first sign of life audiences have seen from them in this split. I see a possible comeback streak in their future. Top lane player Vileroze was not a dominating performer on his team, but he is new to the top lane in competitive play; it may take him a couple of weeks to get better. However, he had two decent performances as a utility Shen, ending his week 4/2/28. It was still a better string of performances than former top laner Cris could produce the whole split. New mid lane player ecco continues to show why he resides in that mid lane, going 9/2/19 for the week on Orianna and Twisted Fate. His builds are still old-fashioned but very effective. Jungler NK Inc finally lived up to his potential this week, and he did not die once in game. With two games as Lee Sin, he went 2/0/29, his best performance yet. AD carry Maplestreet made everyone on the opposing team look like a trespasser on his turf. After a week of multiple quadra kills, Maplestreet truly put the team on his back. He went 11/0/5 on Varus against Counter Logic Gaming and followed it up with an 11/3/5 game on Vayne against Team Vulcun. Maplestreet was truly the Godzilla of the bottom lane. Support Evaniskus also improved his performance, allowing Maplestreet a bit more freedom to go in for the kills. His Thresh play improved greatly from last week. I also disagree with the MVP pick this week. Maplestreet should have won for sure.
