Legend Of Zelda - Ranking Every Link From Worst To Best

10. The Legend Of Zelda (1986)

The version that started it all and served as the template for all future designs, this one is iconic for being a first for many and paving the way for the greatness to come.

Based no less, on Disney’s Peter Pan, which series creator, Shigeru Miyamoto was a big fan of, this is evident through Link’s green tunic, cap, and use of a flute. Link’s adventure stands out for also being the first game we could save, thanks to a battery backup system.

This proved to be useful, as Link was one of the first game characters ever to have a nonlinear adventure, something that would serve as a template many decades later when developing the instant classic, Breath of the Wild.

This is also not a version lost over time, with amiibos and merchandise still being sold to this day that relates to his likeness. And let’s not forget, we were there with him when we first heard the immortal words, “It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this!”
