Legend Of Zelda - Ranking Every Link From Worst To Best

8. A Link To The Past

Arguably, this is the first version of Link that comes to mind when many first hear the words “2D Zelda game” The way he played took everything that was great about his first top down adventure, and built upon it exponentially. This Link that has explored the most dungeons in a single title, and was also the one that introduced us to The Master Sword, and the iconic three triangle Triforce design that is now synonymous with the series.

This was also the first Link who ever had personal motivations we could identify with, venturing out on a dark stormy night to Hyrule Castle, with only a lantern in tow and dramatic, energized music playing all the while, eventually finding himself a framed man who must venture between the light and dark world to solve puzzles, clear his name, and defeat Aganhim.

Of all the 2D console versions of Link, his adventure is arguably the one that has aged the best, as well, and would serve as the foundation for the breath of fresh air that was A Link Between Worlds.
