Life Is Strange: Before The Storm Episode 1 Review - 7 Ups & 2 Downs
6. Smoother Visuals Compared To The Original
As stated before, the graphics in Before the Storm (and the original Life Is Strange) aren't exactly groundbreaking in terms of their realism. But then again, they were never really meant to be, as the focus of episodic games like this is narrative rather than visuals.
That said, Life Is Strange still did have better graphics than, say, the games made by Telltale. However, they still had their faults, most notably the rigid way some characters moved and how frequently the voice acting was out of sync with characters' lip movements.
Before the Storm takes steps towards improving these aspects.
Admittedly, firing up the game and seeing that it uses the Unity engine can be a bit worrisome, but the game itself soon eases this concern. The way characters move feels a touch more fluid and natural as compared to the first game and the lip syncing has drastically improved.
So, in other words, Before the Storm somewhat makes up for its own immersion-breaking aspects by mostly fixing some from the previous game.
