6. Linebacker - Roquan Smith (OVR 82) & Von Miller (OVR 99)
Roquan Smith will fall into pretty much any team as an immediate starter, tied third highest overall among rookies in Madden 19.
Smith is one of the fastest linebackers in the game and proves explosive when on a user controlled blitz. With acceleration of 91 and speed of 89, this leaves offensive lines the daunting task of stopping him. Awareness is in the late 60s, but all rookie start low, and with his superstar rating he should be churning out enough XP to build this quickly.
Smith makes hitting the opponent a breeze with a tackle rating of 88, hit power of 87 and pursuit of 89, leaving him as one of the most rounded, day one ready defensive rookies for years.
Von Miller has retained his place, returning for a second consecutive year in the coveted 99 club in Madden 19. The outside linebacker appears to have been sold short with an 87 speed rating and would have been expected to be nearer the early 90s, but manages to brush around the edge of the opposing o-line with ease.
Miller is one of the more fun defensive players to control in Madden, as the amount of times Miller can sack or pressure the quarterback is scary. Miller’s stats make him one of the most effective run stoppers in the game.
