Madden 19: 9 Best Rookie And Veteran Players By Position
5. Cornerback - Denzel Ward (OVR 80) & Jalen Ramsey (OVR 97)
Denzel Ward has already been referenced as future Pro-Bowl material by his peers around the NFL, and with lightning speed will be a day one starter for the Browns. Ward has already drawn comparisons to Marshon Lattimore of the previous year’s draft, which puts him in good stead for the year to come.
Ward is simply electric: his speed, acceleration and agility are all in the mid 90s, which makes him a game changing player in man to man coverage. Fully adept in zone coverage allows Ward to be a danger on any play.
The only area for improvement is Ward's tackle rating which is down at a lowly 53, but the primary goal for him will be breaking up plays and interceptions.
Self-proclaimed mouth from the south, Jalen Ramsey has all the stats to match his personality. Ramsey is chaotic and disruptive to any offensive player brave enough to pair up with him. There was only ever going to be one cornerback that tops the Madden 19 ranking.
Play recognition and awareness both hit the astronomical 97 mark, which in turn will make quarterbacks think twice before throwing in Ramsey’s direction. Speed of 93 and acceleration of 94 make Ramsey quick off the mark and an interception threat for every downfield throw. Ramsey only has 6 interceptions to his name in his NFL career which makes people question the hype, but it is purely because quarterbacks will not even consider throwing on his side of the field.
Undoubtedly one of the best corners in recent memory, Jalen has all of the traits and potential to become one of the landmark names in the NFL. Ramsey will enter the 99 club with ease throughout the first season of franchise mode, and it is clear to see Madden 20 will have an extra member added to the 99 club upon release.
Realistically, Ramsey will be a future cover star.
