James has already shown huge potential and a natural instinct that gives him one of the highest ceilings in the rookie class. Speed and acceleration is where James comes alive with stats sitting at 90 and 88 respectively - to say he is quick is an understatement.

While rookies normally have a low play recognition, James’ stat is lower than expected at 75 and awareness equally low at 70. On the bright side this will leave scope for improvement. James comes into his own when in zone coverage, but seems to struggle on man coverage which is at an even more surprising low rating of 66.

Where he lacks in rookie fundamentals, running into James makes up for these downfalls and is reminiscent of hitting a brick wall. With a staggering hit power of 90, this gives plenty of opportunity to create forced fumbles and turnovers when he is on the prowl.

Harrison Smith is the benchmark for all rookie safetys to emulate and has an eyewatering 97 overall stat. When taken into account that he is by far the best safety in the league, it’s easy to see why the figure is so high. 97 is simply a starting rating and Smith could reach the 99 club with relative ease.

Smith has exceptional play recognition and awareness, which both sit at 96. Such good base stats leave little room for error.

Although Smith is a monster in zone coverage, he is still fully capable in man coverage, rated at 82 - which is complemented with a pursuit rating of 93. Smith is a real safety net when any play manages to breach the linebackers.
