Madden 19 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs

Ups...

5. Presentation, Presentation, Presentation

Madden 19 has been out for over a month now, and yet the presentation is still responsible for slack jaws aplenty, audible gasps and an immersion only 2K's NBA series can match in this category. Throughout countless hours of gameplay in prep for this run down, this writer thought for sure pre-match routines would become tedious, or that commentary lines would obnoxiously repeat.

Somehow, they haven't, and even more impressively, the announcers keep things fresh by way of weekly real-game updates.

There's zip to their voices, and it's a blood-pumping experience to see NFL culture jump off the screen. In terms of presentation, Madden 19 is simply one of the best sports titles of all time. It's the little touches, like seeing the Black Hole come to life when their beloved Oakland Raiders bag a touchdown, or watching the way New England's Tom Brady proudly nods to himself after releasing another 1st Down-winning pass.

Other sports games could learn a few lessons from how Madden turns mundane fundamentals into pulsating memories. You'll pump your fist in the air when securing the necessary yardage, high five yourself when rivals ding a field goal off the upright and marvel at the package's overall slickness.
