7. Shuma-Gorath
Considering he's one of the more obscure characters to casual comic-book fans, Shuma-Gorath has been getting involved in heated scraps since the arcade days, making his playable debut in the truly brilliant Marvel Super Heroes.
He came back again for Marvel VS Capcom 2 and stood out as a very fun character to play. Sure, he's not breaching the top-tier placements but he has a strong fan-base that would love to see him return, even if it's just to see this Lovecraftian nightmare rendered in lush high-definition anime visuals.
His gameplay style is highly dependent on flinging projectiles, spring-boarding himself across the arena and even turning himself to stone to deliver a devasting overhead attack that is very good at catching opponents off guard.
There's plenty of scope for new moves too, his many tentacles could be provide Dhalsim-level reach, or perhaps even extend into performing hard-to-dodge grabs from full-screen. There's further enhancements that could also be made to his projectiles, his flurry of eye-balls could be used as trap placements, dotting them around the stage ready to be activated with a well-time tentacle strike.
There's really so many possibilities for this one so hopefully Arc System Works bring him out of retirement.
