Mass Effect 2: 10 Cut Characters You Never Knew About

3. Salarian Avenger/Assassin

This character would have brought an interesting moral dilemma, as the Salarian Avenger/Assassin would have been pursued by Captain Kirrahe, an old friend of Shepard’s (if he survived Virmire).

The Salarian was described as an Inigo Montoya type from The Princess Bride, with a target of their own, most likely someone who hurt their family. If Shepard did not help them, likely on their loyalty mission, the Salarian had the potential to leave the Normandy before the Suicide Mission to pursue their target.

To recruit them, Shepard might have come into conflict with Kirrahe, maybe having to overrule his old ally to recruit a new one or potentially hand over the Salarian to Kirrahe to maintain positive relations. Shepard's decision could have ramifications in Mass Effect 3 considering Kirrache’s role on Sur'kesh and the Citadel.

The Salarian Avenger/Assassin would have been a complicated character to implement. However, the drama of a squad member abandoning the mission would have been an interesting twist within the story, immediately putting unaware players on the back foot before facing the Collectors.
