Mass Effect 4: 10 Playable Races That Would Change Everything

3. Turians

Next to the Asari, the Turians are the go-to race associated with the series, not to mention the fact Garrus is one of the most enjoyable, charming and downright cool characters across the board. Chances are these guys will actually be playable if the multi-race rumour is true, and being they were the ones fighting the humans in the First Contact War (a brutal conflict mentioned in-game and covered in supplementary material) it makes for the perfect bait n' switch on expectation, flipping the core appeal of the first game too. No longer are you trying to fit into a galaxy that doesn't want you around, but defending it from an semi-unknown invading force. In addition the homeworld of Palaven was a cool level in Mass Effect 3, but aside from watching the Reapers tear it to shreds you didn't get a sensation for what life was actually like therein, and being that it was the Turians who deployed the Salarian-designed Genophage virus in the canon's history, playing out the ensuing moral-questioning aftermath of conversation between troops would be a fantastic non-combat section that exemplifies everything Mass Effect is all about.
