4. Kill Creatures For The Most Essential Crafting Component

Speaking of crafting, making almost anything armour-related is going to require 'Renderable Plates', which can be found on almost every single alien creature you come across. Not the specific races like Salarians, Turians, Angarans etc., the hostile dinosaur-looking types or those massive armoured apes that'll charge when you get close.

Be on the lookout for species called the Adhi, Eirohc, Taurg, or Galorn, as these are the ones you want to target and bring down (I suggest mowing into them with the Nomad).

Also keep in mind, the vast majority of crafting components can be found either through the General Store vendor on the Nexus, or the 'Buy/Sell Terminal' on the Tempest, handily right next to the Research Terminal.

Just be sure to prod Square/X to sell any salvage you've picked up to free up some more credits.
