Mass Effect Andromeda: 9 Overlooked Positives Nobody Wants To Admit
3. It Takes Itself Less Seriously
One of the biggest reasons why Andromeda has endured such a vitriolic backlash is that most fans went in expecting a self-serious sci-fi epic much like the prior games, yet Andromeda in fact ended up being much, much goofier than just about anyone expected, almost feeling like a straight-up B-movie at times (but with way better production values, of course).
There's less emphasis on portentous drama and a greater focus on the central team taking off on a real adventure, which won't be for all tastes and certainly isn't how the game was marketed, but if you're prepared to be open-minded, it does result in a flighty, giddily entertaining experience all the same.
