Metal Gear Solid Remake: 10 Things That Must Remain Untouched

7. The Revolver Ocelot Fight

Has the first boss in any game ever been this important? Revolver Ocelot's boss battle comes very early on in the game yet he's one of the main antagonists of the entire series; in fact, he's pretty much responsible for the Shadow Moses Incident in the first place. In hindsight then, it seems odd that Ocelot's fight takes place so early. Yet it's still amazingly tense. The majority of the battle's square arena is taken up by a series of wires, holding ArmsTech President Kenneth Baker (one of the men Snake is tasked with saving) hostage while also serving as triggers for C4. Entering the middle of the room leads to the whole thing blowing up and an inevitable game over screen. Ocelot himself is the sort of larger-than-life character we want to battle too. Clearly a man who loves his westerns, the mustachioed villain speaks of his love for the Colt Single Action Army Revolver ("the greatest handgun ever made", of course) before challenging Snake to a duel. This duel sees you chasing Ocelot around the arena, taking potshots whenever you can. Ocelot's gun only carries six rounds, being a revolver, and you can see how many shots he has left before reloading on the game's HUD, adding a tactical element to your chase. In the game's original remake, the Twin Snakes, the new gameplay features (especially the first-person camera perspective) all but ruined this fight for many people. You could simply equip the SOCOM, aim in first-person and shoot Ocelot in the head from one position. If Metal Gear Solid were to receive a new remake, hopefully it will keep the challenge and the spirit of the original fight intact.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
