Metal Gear Solid Remake: 10 Things That Must Remain Untouched
6. Shadow Moses
While Shadow Moses might not be the most famous of game locations, to Metal Gear Solid fans it's a haven for nostalgia. It's home to everything that happens during Metal Gear Solid and its classic dark blue tones are etched into fans memories. Recreating Shadow Moses as closely as possible is essential for any remake; Metal Gear Solid 4 is a great example of how to update an area without losing the original feel or style. After all, who can forgot the snowfield where we fought Sniper Wolf for the final time? Ocelot's lab? The hanger where we defeated Metal Gear RAY? Every major event in Metal Gear Solid is memorable and that's helped by the various areas and buildings of Shadow Moses. As already pointed out, Metal Gear Solid 4 already revisited Shadow Moses, though the island had been completely abandoned for nine years, following the Shadow Moses Incident. Still, the layout was preserved and the area is full of little nods to the first game in the series. Interestingly, it also adds elements from both the original PlayStation game and the Twin Snakes remake, establishing neither game as singularly canonical. Ideally a second remake will create a unique style for Shadow Moses while still adhering closely to the original layout and design.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
