Metal Gear Solid V - 10 Characters Who Could Make A Surprise Appearance

10. The Sorrow

Metal Gear Solid has always had an intriguing obsession with the supernatural world and in Metal Gear Solid 3, much of those elements were explored with the help of a character named The Sorrow. A deceased member of the Cobra Unit, The Sorrow was a spirit medium who appeared to Big Boss infrequently throughout the game, most notably in a 'boss battle' scene where he tortured Snake with those he had killed during his mission. However, The Sorrow acted as an ally to Big Boss too. During the game's torture scene, The Sorrow appears behind Volgin, holding a placard which gives Boss a radio frequency he can use to escape the cell. As such, perhaps a similar appearance in The Phantom Pain is on the cards. Trailers for the game have shown weird, paranormal events already; The Sorrow could be a cause of these. Or, alternatively, he could be aiding Boss from beyond the grave again; at this point, it's really not all that crazy. The Sorrow's brief fan-pleasing presence in Metal Gear Solid 4 cemented his legacy - few would oppose his inclusion in The Phantom Pain.
