6. The Terminator
Along with Ash and a few other characters still to feature, The Terminator has been linked with Mortal Kombat for a while. Recent guests seem to have opened the floodgates to classic movie characters, and there’s few who can claim to have more longevity than The Terminator.
The recent Emilia Clarke led Terminator Genisys didn’t blow audiences away, but that had more to do with a contrived script than a lack of love for Arnie’s robotic killbot. The fact they couldn’t spell Genesis correctly probably didn’t help matters either.
However, going back to the first two movies, The Terminator was a bona fide star. One of the best redemption arcs in Hollywood history, Schwarzenegger is an utterly unstoppable killing machine in the first movie; obviously though, he’s eventually stopped. In the second movie however, Arnie’s T-800 model is now the good guy, trying to take down the evil, shapeshifting T-1000.
Although Robert Patrick’s evil Terminator is stronger, Schwartzenegger’s model is much more iconic. If the Terminator does come to Mortal Kombat 11, it’ll surely be the Arnold Schwarzenegger style they go with. Regardless, with a 2019 reboot coming, he’ll be back pretty soon.
