Mortal Kombat 11: 10 Guest Characters We NEED To See
3. Ryu
A Mortal Kombat Vs. Street Fighter game has been talked about and wished for by fans for decades at this point. Most recently that fire was fuelled once again by MK creator Ed Boon, when he did a poll on Twitter asking if fans would like to see a crossover of the two franchises, a horror fighting game, or Marvel Vs. DC. The latter won that poll by almost half, but it's clear that fans would still love to see some Street Fighter thrown in the mix.
The easiest way to satiate those desires, and to give us the the first step in the long-awaited crossover, is to have Ryu feature in Mortal Kombat 11. He may be a rather obvious choice but, as the first potential dip into the Street Fighter world, NetherRealm would have to go with the big chief.
Ryu is as iconic a video game character as Mario or Sonic, having been around since 1987. He has appeared in different games beyond Street Fighter, including Asura's Wrath and Super Smash Bros. U, so an appearance in Mortal Kombat certainly isn't off the table.
Ryu is a hand-to-hand combatant who uses a blend of Shotokan and Hapkido to unleash a flurry of punches and kicks. Of course, he also uses the Hadoken fireball, a dragon punch, and a hurricane kick. It would be incredible to see him face-to-face with Scorpion and co. Fingers crossed it actually happens this time.
