3. Mileena
Ok, so Mileena is far from a "lost character" but she is a major fan favorite and her sudden and unexpected death in Mortal Kombat X left fans in a state of disappointed shock.
Mileena is the twin sister/clone of Kitana, created by Shang Tsung in a Frankenstein-esque approach by merging the DNA of Kitana and a Tarkatan. In her original storyline, Mileena was raised alongside Kitana with both of them believing they were sisters. When they finally learned the truth, it only exacerbated Mileena's bloodlust and rage.
Throughout the story of Mortal Kombat, Mileena has repeatedly been portrayed as a vicious and violent murderer. While this portrayal is more than fitting, there is ample room to expand her story and develop her relationships with other major characters like Kitana, Shao Kahn, and Baraka. doing this could easily transform Mileena into a much more three dimensional and sympathetic villain.
Mileena's gameplay has been refined and perfected over her tenure in the series, but if Mortal Kombat 12 does go for another reset of the Mortal Kombat story, expanding on Mileena's character and story is an absolute must for one of the series' most under-utilized antagonists.
